Playa Montroig Camping Resort (Costa Daurada, Tarragona), chosen Best Family Camping of the Year.
Campings del Mediterráneo is a sectoral confederation powered by the Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Castellón, Valencia, Alicante and the Mountain Campsites associations, located more than 1,000 metres above sea level in Catalonia.
Campings del Mediterráneo has more than 300 campsites (210,000 spots), generates 7,000 direct jobs and hosts 4.3 million tourists every year (25.5 million overnight stays).
Campings del Mediterráneo (CM) has won virtually all the international awards won by the camper sector of Spain in the context of the 50th edition of the Vakantiebeurs fair in Utrecht, one of the most important in the world. These awards are granted by the reference car association in the Netherlands, the ANWB, – dedicated to mobility, tourism and leisure since 1883-, with more than 4 million users.
The ANWB awards its prizes in two different categories: the ANWB Erkende Top Campings of Spain 2020 (the best campsites in Spain 2020) and Camping Van Het Jaar 2020 (Camping of the Year 2020). In this edition, the highest award was given to Playa Montroig Camping Resort, located in Mont-roig del Camp (Tarragona), for the best international family campsite of 2020. Playa Monroig and Camping & Resort Sangulí Salou, also located in Tarragona -both integrated into Mediterranean Campsites-, had earned the only two nominations of Spain.
This is the first time that Playa Montroig receives the distinction of best family camping of the year, which means its recognition as the European leader in this segment. The nomination takes place through the vote of more than 25,000 users, which defines a selection of the top 20 European campsites of the year, of which only two are Spanish. The final decision is made by a specialized jury that values aspects such as services, the value for money, hospitality, water areas, sports activities or entertainment, among others.
As for TopCampings of Spain 2020, a total of 18 campsites, 16 of which are integrated into the CM network, have revalidated the favor of ANWB voters:
GIRONA
TARRAGONA
ALICANTE
On the other hand, Campings del Mediterráneo has established itself as a national reference in the sector in Stuttgart. In the case of the Superplatz of the German guide edited by ADAC, 16 national campsites obtain the highest score, all located within the CM territory:
GIRONA
TARRAGONA
CASTELLÓN
ALICANTE
With the renewed confidence of ANWB and ADAC, Campings del Mediterráneo consolidates itself as a benchmark of excellence in the sector in Spain by bringing together almost 100% of the Spanish five-star campsites – representing approximately 10% of European campsites – among their partners. The president of Campings del Mediterráneo, Angels Ferré, highlights the prestige of these recognitions for the image of the sector: “It is a fundamental endorsement which rewards work well done; we once again demonstrate our capacity for innovation and adaptation to the customer… it’s very satisfying to see that European users give us outstanding marks, with all the Spanish ‘five-stars’ campsites distinguished by the industry reference guides- edited in the Netherlands and Germany – working together within our confederation.”
Campings del Mediterráneo has more than 300 campsites (210,000 spots) across six provinces, generates 7,000 direct jobs and hosts 4.3 million tourists every year (25.5 million overnight stays).
